Smack in the centre of Northeastern Ontario’s snowiest trails is the Elk Lake Lodge and Eco Centre—now new and improved for 2023. This winter, it’s one of the best spots to set up your basecamp for a Northern sledding vacation.
While the lodge has been around for a while, the new management team is focused on highlighting (and investing in) all the best amenities the lodge has to offer—so there’s never been a better time to check the place out. A haven for snowmobilers all winter long, time at Elk Lake Lodge is an experience you will want to repeat.
Onsite Fuel, Easy Parking and Trail Access, and Delicious Food
Visitors to the lodge will notice loads of new improvements from last winter. A massive tank now supplies 91 Octane gas on site, and updates to the restaurant complement what was already one of the best places to eat, and sleep, in the North.
Riders will also love the massive parking lot—located at the foot of the TOP A trail. Rest assured your truck, trailer and sled will be well looked after no matter what direction you ride.
Join the Gold Rush or Make a Quick Loop to a Historic Town
The Gold Rush Tour passes right by the front door, and at 693 km, with a stop in Elk Lake, it’s the perfect long-weekend ride. Shorter loops can be done heading to Temagami, Kirkland Lake, Temiskaming Shores, and Cobalt. Plus, you can ride easy knowing the trails maintained by the Tri-Town Sno Travellers and Club Echo are always in top-notch condition.
Sleep Soundly in a Well-Appointed Chalet
The accommodations at The Elk Lake Lodge and Eco Centre boast six chalets, each with two floors and six separate bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a common area equipped with high-speed wifi and a television—you can also book just a single room, or the entire cabin!
Dine In, Get Warm by the Fire, and Make New Friends
The main lodge is fully licensed and is set up to accommodate larger groups for meals and small group hang-outs—with a hot tub in the backyard, and an incredible stone fireplace as the centerpiece of its main lobby. Thursday night is pub night and the lodge fills up quickly with locals and travelers alike—and it’s only a one-minute walk from the lodge along the boardwalk to your cabin!
If dining in or doing take-out from the lodge isn’t on your list, you can also gather in the common areas of the chalet knowing there’s a full kitchen with microwave, fridge, and the basic necessities for enjoying your own food and beverages.
